Jane's Approach to Care: Not Just About Needles
Acupuncture is just one of the strategies that Jane Gleeson may use when trying to help a patient with pain, anxiety, gastro-intestinal, and womens health problems. She also uses:
Acupressure: A gentle manual pressure applied to specific acupuncture points.
Cupping: Involves the application of small suction cups to painful muscles.
Two cornerstones of Jane’s treatment are:
Nutrition evaluation and assessment of individuals from an Eastern and Western point of view. This is followed by the appropriate nutrition counseling and education.
Individual Instruction in Mindfulness Meditation. This is a form of breath based meditation that has been proven to reduce anxiety and to help the body heal.
Health Advocacy Counseling: Because Jane is an RN and has worked in Western healthcare for many years, she also counsels patients in regard to which physicians and therapists might be able to help them with their problem if they are not already connected with Western medical doctors. She also helps patients formulate the types of questions and issues they should bring to their medical doctors attention.
